OHM CHAIRMAN DEMANDS CONDUCTING EXTRAORDINARY PARLIAMENTARY SESSION

“Our Home is Moldova” (OHM) party leader Grigore Petrenco stands for cancelling of the decision on raising tariffs on electricity and gas, proposing to conduct meetings of the National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE), the Government and the Parliament.

During Friday’s news conference at Infotag he said that the raising of tariffs was followed by growth in prices on other services and goods, including the increase in price on bread by 15% starting from August 15.

According to him, the bakery factory Franzeluta should increase the production of the so-called social bread and keep unchanged the prices on it.

“If the Government demanded from the ANRE to revise tariffs on gas, this means that protest actions give results and should be continued all across Moldova until tariffs and prices growth stops, while the authorities are dethroned”, Petrenco said.

According to him, protests against tariff raising will be conducted on Saturday at 10:00 in Comrat and then - in other localities.

Petrenco said that the OHM will participate in all the protest actions, held by other parties and organizations against the tariff growth and against the current authorities, and called on people to join the pickets.

He said that “Our Home is Moldova” intends to address to the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) in connection to the prohibition by authorities of the peaceful protest action in Chisinau downtown. According to him, on August 12 the Superior Court of Justice (SCJ) upheld the decision of the Chisinau Appeals Court about ban on conducting protest actions in front of the house of Democrat Vlad Plahotniuc.

“The court decision is unconstitutional, as people are prohibited to express themselves, conduct peaceful protests. We will sue to the ECHR and Moldova will lose again, as it is evident the fact of violating human rights and freedom of speech. Also we will demand punishing judges, who took the decision on prohibiting the protest action. They knew what they are risking”, Petrenco said.

As Infotag has already reported,, the tent village was installed by the OHM activists in late July in front of the house of Plahotniuc, who is in the party’s opinion, controlling the ANRE that took the decision on tariff raising.
