DA PLATFORM CALLS ON CITIZENS TO SAVE MOLDOVA OUT OF OLIGARCHIC CAPTIVITY

25 august, 2015
DA PLATFORM CALLS ON CITIZENS TO SAVE MOLDOVA OUT OF OLIGARCHIC CAPTIVITY The Civil Platform “Demnitate si Adevar” [DA, “Dignity and Justice”] has called upon Moldova citizens not to trust the authorities’ “mendacious promises” and to unite efforts for the sake of helping Moldova out of “the oligarchic captivity”.

DA representatives stated at a news conference at Infotag today that the approaching Independence Day of August 27 is losing its solemnity and stateliness with each coming year, and comes to look rather as a mourning ceremony.

“How come the republic, which lived in the conditions of international independence, was captured by oligarchic clans? What are the reasons of Moldova’s becoming the poorest country in Europe? What future will Moldova have if it remains in the hands of corrupt officials? Answers to these questions should unite us for liberation of our native country from the oligarchs’ hands and for restoration of the nation’s sovereignty. Moldova has developed into a seized state in the result of a back-stage distribution of state institutions [the notorious algorithm] that has made possible ‘the theft of the century’ from 3 banks. Nowhere in the world can one imagine the stealing of a country’s two-thirds of the State Budget or one-sixth of the gross domestic product”, said Andrei Nastase of the DA Platform.

He voiced indignation that this very ruling coalition, which promised development and prosperity, has led the nation to a robbery of banks, to devaluation of the national currency, and to transforming the stolen billion euros into a public debt.

Moldovan political scientist Dr. Igor Botan, Chairman of the Association for Participatory Democracy (ADEPT), believes the incumbent power is illegitimate, and citizen should realize this.

“After the theft from banks, the Liberal Democrats [Vlad Filat] and Democrats [Plahotniuc] polled 6 times and 4 times fewer votes, respectively, at the June local elections compared with last November’s parliamentary elections. These rulers barefacedly violate the principles of a law-governed state. Our political elite was aware of the bank theft, but did not do anything to prevent it because they were interested in the siphoning off”, stated Igor Botan.

The DA representatives said that the rally of protest against the incumbent rulers, scheduled for September 6, will have a peaceful character. They called on citizens not to yield to provocations by the authorities, whose representatives are already using radical measures to upset the rally, including by means of intimidating DA activists.
