GRIGORE PETRENCO REGARDS ENERGY TARIFF FREEZING AS A SUCCESS IN STRUGGLE AGAINST OLIGARCHS

03 september, 2015
GRIGORE PETRENCO REGARDS ENERGY TARIFF FREEZING AS A SUCCESS IN STRUGGLE AGAINST OLIGARCHS “Our Home is Moldova” (OHM) party leader Grigore Petrenco qualified the Thursday’s decision by the National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE) to suspend for 2 months the raising of electricity and natural gas tariffs as “the common victory won by all those who have been protesting last few months against the rule of oligarchs in Moldova”.

“The power usurpers in the person of Vlad Plahotniuc and Vlad Filat certainly fear citizens’ wrath. This is only the first victory achieved by all of us – those who came out for protesting in Chisinau, Comrat and Balti. We should not stop on this. We must move on in our struggle against this thievish, criminal power that is already agonizing”, presumes Grigore Petrenco.

In his words, he and his supporters were the first who have opened the public’s eyes on the existence of criminal schemes of enrichment practiced by shady companies supplying electricity to Moldova at an exorbitant price.

“Standing behind all this is Vlad Plahotniuc – the organizer and performer of the developments, and he must stand responsibility for this. Actually, there are two more personalities who must make him a company in jail – Ilan Shor and Vlad Filat, his partners in other enrichment projects”, said Petrenco.

He reminded that the need for looking into these corrupt authorities was stated openly and repeatedly even by international partners.

“They have at last realized whom they have been dealing with. This monstrous hydra of insatiable oligarchs can be defeated only by joint effort – by organizing massive protests. Let’s come into the Chisinau's central square next Sunday to manifest our protest in full voice”, called the ex-parliamentarian.

Grigore Petrenco believes it is necessary to put forward the following 4 main conditions: to cancel the extortionate electricity and gas tariffs; to bring to responsibility the persons involved in the theft of a billion euros from Moldovan banks, and to arrest oligarch Vlad Plahotniuc; to de-politicize law enforcement agencies and discharge Prosecutor General Corneliu Gurin, Director of the National Anti-Corruption Center (NACC) Viorel Chetraru and Minister of the Interior Oleg Balan; to suspend the activities of the Democratic Party and to recognize it an organized criminal group.

Petrenco announced that OHM is declaring “an all-nation mobilization for protesting”.

“This is not a party protest but a civil and purely peaceful protest. The OHM and its supporters will march as an individual column from the Moldovan Academy of Sciences along the city’s main street until the Great National Assembly Square, where we will join the rest of rally participants. It is only by joint effort that we can throw down this notorious regime of thieves and robbers of the Moldovan people”, stated Grigore Petrenco.
