VALERIU STRELET OWES US$30 THOUSAND TO BUSINESS PARTNERS Former prime minister Valeriu Strelet has not returned the promised US$30 thousand, invested by three entrepreneurs in the pesticides importing company Modus 20 years ago, said businessman Alexandru Gutu during Monday’s news conference at Infotag.

He said that in 1996 Valeriu Strelet proposed to Gutu and two other entrepreneurs to invest money in development of business on importing pesticides.

“We invested the necessary sum, while some time later he proposed to us to come away from the created company, as the business does not develop. Due to the fact that he did not have money, he wrote a receipt, undertaking to return US$30 thousand till December 1996. It has been almost 20 years, but he has not returned the money yet”, Gutu said.

According to him, he has many times talked to Strelet to address this problem. Gutu said that the company exists till now, but is in the process of liquidation.

“During phone talks Strelet has been avoiding the discussion of this problem, proposing us to write all the questions on e-mail. I intend to lodge a complaint to the prosecutors’ office and the National Anti-Corruption Center (NACC). Maybe they will manage to solve this problem and the ex-premier will finally understand that the debts should be repaid”, Gutu said.
