GOVERNMENT SHOULD BE FORMED WITH MAXIMUM OPENNESS - SOCIAL-DEMOCRATIC PLATFORM

03 november, 2015
GOVERNMENT SHOULD BE FORMED WITH MAXIMUM OPENNESS - SOCIAL-DEMOCRATIC PLATFORM Leaders of the Social-Democratic Platform Mihai Petrache, Sergiu Corobceanu and Marin Livadaru said that the new cabinet of ministers should be formed with maximum openness to ordinary citizens.

Mihai Petrache said during Tuesday’s news conference at Infotag that Moldova faces a catastrophic falling of the authorities’ rating and taxpayers’ trust in the country’s administration over the last year.

“The country changed three Cabinets of Ministers; moreover two of these were dismissed by the Government on the wording “on suspicion of corruption”. The collapse of trust is happening not only in relation to the executive power, ratings of 6 political parties from the Parliament are also very low. We suppose that the time has come to clean the Moldovan political class from the tinge of corruption and to start forming the Government on new principles – openly for the society and the nation, without the ruling majority’s obsession with secrets”, Petrache said.

He considers that the country President is obliged to inform the population in detail about parliamentary factions’ consultations, about candidates for Premier and ministers, as well as to voice the conclusions of competent bodies and public organizations, specialized on fighting corruption, about whether candidates have or not conflict of interest and about data on their property.

Petrache expressed bewilderment why the Law on lie-detector testing is applied only to officers of law enforcement agencies, but does not include members of the Government.

“The undergoing of testing on polygraph should become an essential procedure at declaring a person as candidate for a post in the Government. Besides, before the list of candidates reaches the Parliament, candidates should undergo testing for professional suitability”, the Platform Leader said.

According to him, the National Integrity Commission is working absolutely improperly, closing its eyes to violations, committed by officials, to obvious conflict of interest, and often working post-factum.

“We had ministers with criminal cases opened against them, as well as a Premier with forged educational documents. This is a shame for the country. Could this not be avoided? I think that the new Government should be formed openly and impeccably from the legal point of view”, Petrache said.

Infotag’s dossier: The Social-Democratic Platform was formed in August 2015 and includes the Social Democratic Party, the Centrist Union of Moldova and the Party of Progressive Society. The main goal of the Platform is the consolidation of healthy political powers and civil society and Moldova’s liberation from oligarchs.
