GRIGORE PETRENCO HAS NO RELATION TO DONBASS ARMY, LAWYER SAYS

18 november, 2015
GRIGORE PETRENCO HAS NO RELATION TO DONBASS ARMY, LAWYER SAYS “Our Home is Moldova” (OHM) party leader Grigore Petrenco, arrested on September 6, has no relation whatever to the two young people detained at the Chisinau International Airport on suspicion of their alleged participation in warfare in eastern Ukraine, Petrenco’s lawyer Anna Ursachi stated at a news conference at Infotag today. (To be continued.) Ursachi said that these insinuations are being deliberately spread by the mass media owned by oligarch Vlad Plahotniuc. (To be continued.) “Exactly the 4 television channels and 3 radio stations, owned by Plahotniuc, worked in concert on November 13 and produced the awful fake information that Petrenco allegedly had a relation to the fighters. I state with full responsibility that the two young people, detained on suspicion of participating in illegal military formations in Ukraine, had nothing to do with the September 6 protests”, stressed the lawyer. (To be continued.) Anna Ursachi is convinced that the Plahotniuc’s media empire and information machine are stirring up a political hysteria in Moldova to thus escape responsibility for the oligarch’s doings in the republic, including the arrest of the Petrenco group. (To be continued.) “The ruling regime has no answers to a constantly growing number of extremely unpleasant questions that are coming not only from the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe [whose 32 deputies have demanded Petrenco’s immediate release] but also from the Council of Europe, OSCE and the United Nations. The international officials are asking about Petrenco’s destiny and why he is still behind bars. Earlier this week, Plahotniuc’s relative – Moldovan Parliament Chairman Andrian Candu – was subjected to a ‘cross interrogation’ in Brussels. Candu failed to provide intelligible answers to European parliamentarians, and he lost face. I think that this new attempt to link Petrenco with Donbass is just a clumsy effort to avoid the uncomfortable questions, with which Moldova’s foreign partners are literally driving the Plahotniuc’s oligarchic regime into the corner”, said Anna Ursachi. (To be continued.) In her words, the Petrenco case has no perspectives in the court whatever. (To be continued.) “As soon as we begin examining in court the arguments of the prosecution and the defense, the case will go to pieces straightaway. We have a hundred witnesses ready and eager to give evidence in court that Grigore Petrenco and his party comrades were protesting before the Prosecutor General’s Office on September 6 peacefully. And the prosecution side has only 20 witnesses, but nobody can say yet if these twenty people will dare repeat their dubious evidence in an open court session”. (To be continued.) “Realizing all this, Plahotniuc is mobilizing his obedient mass media outlets to somehow link Petrenco’s name with such taboo topics as war, extremism, terrorism. If to follow the oligarch’s insane logic, the recent explosions in Paris were also organized by Petrenco – simply on grounds that the politician visited Lake of Geneva not long ago. But let me remind you that Petrenco brought from Geneva the photographs of the luxurious villa on the lake shore, which Plahotniuc had bought on the money stolen from Moldova citizens”, said lawyer Ursachi. (To be continued.) The next CAC sitting on the Petrenco group case has been scheduled for November 24.
