MIXED MARTIAL ARTS NTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL HELD IN MOLDOVA

The international festival of mixed martial arts will take place in Moldova on November 20-21 in the sports complex of village Ciorescu.

Chairman of the National Federation of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) Victor Popescu said at the press conference in the agency Infotag that within the framework of the festival, for the first time the World Championship of Mixed Martial Arts and the European Championship Combat Ju-Jitsu will be held in Moldova.

"On Friday, 20 November, amateur athletes will be fighting and on Saturday the professionals will compete for the world championship belt. The guest of honor will be the legend Igor Vovchanchin. Also at the festival will be attended by the representatives of the promotion agency Honor the warriors, the World MMA fighting championship and Azerbaijan Press Agency World kickboxing network”, he said.

According to Popescu, about 500 guests will arrive at the festival, who include the well-known sportsmen, the European referees and the chairman of the World Federation of MMA. The festival is a charity, all the money collected will be donated to the maternity ward of Republican Hospital №1.

Member of Parliament from PSRM Vlad Batryncha said that such an event is very important for the Moldovan sports.

“Representatives of 30 countries will be visiting Moldova during the festival. Our fighters will be able to show the sporting opportunities in the global arena. The guests will be shown the historical and cultural attractions of the Republic of Moldova”, said the deputy.

According to Batrincia the festival will be supported by the National Campaign Iubesc Moldova, which helps Moldovan athletes, not only in achieving their goals, but also in improving the conditions for the sport development.
