RUSSIAN COMMUNITIES CONGRESS CALLS TO BOYCOTT TURKISH GOODS

26 november, 2015
RUSSIAN COMMUNITIES CONGRESS CALLS TO BOYCOTT TURKISH GOODS Chairman of the Congress of Russian Communities of Moldova Valeriu Climenco called on Moldovan people to renounce to food products, clothes and equipment, produced in Turkey, as well as to tourist trips to this country.

During Thursday’s news conference at Infotag, he explained his appeal by the fact that by means of bringing down the Russian military aircraft Su-24 Turkish authorities have openly took the side of international terrorists, which means that any purchasing of Turkish goods is equal to economic support to the state, which is killing its compatriots.

“These are money, which will go to building new missiles, launched against Russian aircrafts that are protecting us from international terrorists. We should not allow this to happen”, Climenco said.

According to him, the renouncing to Turkish goods will demonstrate to the entire world Moldova’s openness and decency in relations with its strategic partner – Russia.

“Even if our actions will bring to Turkey less damage in comparison to possible damage caused by other countries’ actions, it will anyway be a demonstration of Moldovan people’s position. The Congress has a large network all across the country; we have communities in almost all municipalities and towns, and in many villages. They will start working to convince people. Let Erdogan [Turkish President] and ISIS members eat Turkish tomatoes”, said Climenco ironically.

He maintains that due to the boycott, Moldovan entrepreneurs will have the opportunity to fill the market with their goods, while citizens – to support domestic producers.

“The market will never be empty. One supplier can easily be substituted by another one. Several dozens of private companies in Moldova are producing and exporting clothing to the EU market, so if Moldovan goods are so much demanded in Germany, Italy and France, this means these are not worse than the Turkish clothing. We learned how to produce light industry goods of a very high quality, thus Turkish products are not a marker on ours”, the organization’s head said.

At the question whether the Congress is ready to join an information campaign on supporting Moldovan producers, promoted by a political party, Climenco said that the organization is ready to support any initiative which corresponds to state interests, regardless of it’s the party it comes from.

Infotag’s dossier: Turkey is one of Moldova’s major trade partners. Imports from this country accounted for US$217.3 million over January-September, which is 7.3% of Moldova’s total imports. Moldovan goods’ exports to Turkey are 4.5 times less.
