ION VARANITA ACCUSES POLICE BOSSES OF CONCEALING THE KILLING OF HIS WIFE’S FATHER Writer Ion Varanita, a personality growth coach, has accused Col. Gheorghe Cavcaliuc, Deputy Chief of the MoI General Police Inspectorate, of concealing the murder of Ion Antoceanu, his father-in-law.

Varanita said at a news conference at Infotag today that Mr. Antoceanu died more than one year ago when drunken police officer Sergiu Gheciu, driving very fast a Volvo police car, rode into the old man.

“I have repeatedly demanded to investigate that tragic accident. Chisinau City Prosecutor Ion Diacov [the brother of Honorable Chairman of the Democratic Party MP Dumitru Diacov] recommended me not to hire a lawyer, for he promised he would personally help me”, said Varanita.

In his words, his wife Cristina Antoceanu “was deceived on every step, hearing promises to help her find the truth”.

“Now I will not let anybody to further offend her. I had waited for a whole year in the hope that Gheciu would at last admit his guilt and then our family would pardon him because the cop has a family, too, and children to care about. But as he would not recognize his guilt, we shall not forgive him for what he has done”, said the coach.

Varanita stated he had learnt quite much about the work methods used by Gheciu and Cavcaliuc.

Addressing to them through journalists’ video cameras, he said: “Do you really think that by sending me threat after threat I will get scared? If something happens to me or my family, everybody will know that people responsible for that are Vlad Plahotniuc, Gheorghe Cavcaliuc, Sergiu Gheciu and Ion Diacov. I realize perfectly that I can be caught at any moment and locked up in the remand prison of the National Anti-Corruption Center or in a mental hospital. But I am not afraid of anybody, and I am ready for everything”.

Varanita urged Minister of the Interior Oleg Balan to restart the internal investigation against Gheciu that was closed down on the following day after the launching of the litigation on the murder of Antoceanu.

“Yesterday, on December 28, I was offered 20,000 euros, but I shall not take the money. I am ready to hold my trainings free of charge for Democratic Party members and to present 1001 books of mine with my autographs”, said the writer, who believes that “a time of justice has come to let people live the way they have been dreaming for 25 years – not the way we are taught by analysts and journalists from television companies belonging to our thievish oligarchs”.

Ion Varanita addressed also to Balti Mayor Renato Usatii and to Party of Socialists leader Igor Dodon for their support in struggle against “these vipers… Together with Liberal Democratic Party leader Vlad Filat currently in prison, there must sit also the members of his team, who made grand thefts and machinations in concert”.
