PSP LEADERS MAINTAIN EARLY ELECTIONS SHOULD BE CONDUCTED NOT EARLIER THAN IN SIX MONTHS Leaders of the Progressive Society Party maintain that early parliamentary elections in Moldova should be conducted, but not earlier than in 6 months, moreover in certain conditions.

The PSP founder Marin Livadaru said at the Monday’s news conference at Infotag that these conditions are: changing of the whole membership of the Central Election Commission and lowering of the electoral threshold for the parties.

“The current 6% for the parties is almost the monopolization of party practices in Moldova by a number of large formations. The third condition is maximum transparency at parties financing. And the fourth demand of the PSP is the admission of new formations to TV channels, which are now controlled by certain political powers and groups”, Livadaru said.

According to him, the Pavel Filip Government should use this term of 6 months to work, supporting the country’s economy and preparing the state for new elections.

“We have been supporting opposition’s protest actions since April 2015. We protested in the Chisinau main square both in May and on September 6. However, today, the coming in power of Dodon, Nastase and Usatii will not be better than the current ruling of Plahotniuc’s group. They are just striving for power, using citizens’ disappointment. We have to prepare for elections in new and equal for everyone conditions”, Livadaru said.

He called to start a dialog and discuss all the existing problems within the joint political platform “For Moldova!”.

PSP Acting Chairman Oleg Matvei said that Moldova needs to carefully, but without procrastination, prepare for power change.

“The political class, which is now in power, have completely discredited itself, creating corruption schemes. We need new people, new political elite, but this change should be conducted peacefully, by all means preventing the recurrence of Ukrainian scenario in Moldova”, the politician said.
