HEAD OF BRICENI BRANCH OF “PATRIOTS OF MOLDOVA” PARTY BELIEVES THAT AUTHORITIES PREPARE PETRENCO’S FATE FOR HIM Head of Briceni territorial organization of the Patriots of Moldova Party, Oleg Betian believes that authorities are preparing for him Petrenco’s fate, who was arrested for his activism.

He reported at the news conference, that his civil position does not suit representatives of the present ruling alliance for two reasons.

“The first one is fight against drugs in the region, and the second is political activity. My friends and I established non-governmental organization Genavavita in spring 2013. Its objective is to fight crime, to support former prisoners, work with young people to explain the younger generation drugs’ destructiveness. Then, two of my friends infiltrated in a criminal group, which was engaged in proliferation of marijuana and hard drugs in especially large sizes on the north of the republic. On November 13, Briceni police caught red-handed five of its members, while they were packing hundreds of doses of the potion”, said Betian.

According to him, police established distribution channels and intermediaries of this organized criminal group. The gang members were previously sentenced, but the verdict of the first instance was challenged and the judges turned the drug dealer under house arrest.

“They didn’t even come to the last sitting of the court, because moved in races. They are still wanted”, said Batian, who believes that judges and policeman received bribes.

Activist said that police colonel Arthur Bechir, who worked as a kind of chief in Sectorul Ciocana of Chisinau, called him out in the course of marijuana investigation.

“I was required to sign a statement about my involvement in an imaginary sale of cigarettes, but I refused. I was detained, but after and couple of weeks the court absolved me liberated for lack of evidences. Later, I learned that the Victor Dumitras, convicted for smuggling, testified on me”, noted Betian.

He draw a conclusion that Bechir is one of the capital’s police officers that cover drug trade in Briceni raion, intimidating those who are trying to deal with drug traffickers.

Betian announced that a familiar officer from the Information and Security Service (ISS) gave him information that he would be processed in autumn 2015, about his allegedly involvement in mercenary activities in Donbas.

“The most interesting thing is that the very Dumitras gave evidences against me. Supposedly, he was in the East of Ukraine; then he was somewhere out there. After that he returned home, found me and offered the role of recruiter. It seemed that I agreed. This is a complete nonsense. I have never been to Donbass, but I support Russia. I don’t hide my views on unionists and the current regime. I believe that in this way ISS is preparing to arrest me, fabricating and criminal case by analogy with the case against Grigori Petrenco. The goal is to take away active human rights activists. No man – no problem”, he said.

“I believe that Stefan cel Mare, Sergey Lazo and Grigory Kotovsky are my people’s heroes. The Moldovan statehood is sacred. We are Moldovans. I participated in many actions after 2012 together with “the Patriots of Moldova Party” on the north of the republic”, he said.
