MOLDOVAN PRIEST ASKS RUSSIAN PRESIDENT FOR CITIZENSHIP

21 march, 2016
MOLDOVAN PRIEST ASKS RUSSIAN PRESIDENT FOR CITIZENSHIP Archpriest from Antonesti village in Cantemir raion [district] Mihail Gribencea addressed to Russian President Vladimir Putin with the request to be provided with Russian citizenship.

At the Monday’s news conference at Infotag he explained this decision by the fact that anything good will happen in Moldova, thus he prefers to go to Russia and serve as priest there.

“The West keeps fighting against the Orthodox Church, whose basis and pillar is Russia. The West imposes its rules, contrary to the Orthodox Church, to all the orthodox countries-members of the European Union. The West tries to override economically weak countries, imposing to them its principles and rules”, said the priest, adding that during 23 years he has been trying to contribute in servicing to Russia.

He has not submitted documents to the Russian consulate hoping that Putin will hear the address, especially as Putin is a religious person.

“We are being told about integration with the European Union, but nobody tells us about how to reach there. As for the so-called EU and West financial assistance, if they really wanted, they would have helped instead of spending this money on their own stay in the country. The current authorities are not guilty that the financial assistance does not reach the citizens”, Gribencea said.

The priest said he does not know how his colleagues will react on his decision to get citizenship of another country, but he stressed that the adopted decision has nothing to do with the political situation in the world and in the country.
