10 may, 2016
CHISINAU CITIZENS SAY ADVERTISEMENT IS NECESSARY IN THE CITY – OPINION POLL Most of Chisinau city and suburban communities’ residents maintain that the presence of advertisement in city streets is necessary. Such results were demonstrated by the poll, conducted by the Intellect Group company at the order of the Moldovan Association of Advertising Agencies.

Intellect Group company representative Patricia Vieru said at the Tuesday’s news conference at Infotag that the opinion poll was carried out among 984 people, 80.7% of which are residents of Chisinau, while 19.3% - residents of suburban communities

Asked about what information is easier for perception, 81% respondents said visual information, 13% - audio, the rest could not respond. At the question whether the visual advertising contributes to selecting the purchased goods, 58% respondents answered yea, 27% - no.

Asked whether there is a need in advertisement in the city, 58% say that yes, 20% that there is no need of it.

According to the poll results, 46% respondents say that local authorities lack professionalism in their approach to development of the city and the visual advertising. 24% respondents say the authorities are professional enough in this field, 30% interviewees said they are not interested in this question and that local administration is solving only its personal issues.

Also, 52% respondents maintain that city Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca is not able to solve the question of advertisement in Chisinau, while 21% believe that he will manage to do everything well.

Director of the Neorama advertising agency Sandu Osadcenco said that Mayor is acting illegally.

“His decision on dismantling advertisement panels in Chisinau downtown is also illegal as it has not been published anywhere and has no stamp. Chirtoaca refuses to meet advertising agencies representatives for already three months. There are concrete proposals to him, but he does not want to discuss anything. Everyone knows that there is a problem in the field of advertisement, but it can be solved in other way but the one the mayor adopted”, Osadcenco said.

According to him, such actions of the governor may lead to reduction of jobs and lowering of budget revenues.

“Advertisement panels of different agencies have been dismantled and only those remained, which belong to agencies that have connections with the mayor. Chirtoaca decided to remove panels so that a monopoly to appear in the advertising market, and the city to be completely flooded with advertising from only one agency. It is difficult to work when the main competitor is the Chisinau mayor”, Osadcenco said.
