CHISINAU TO HOST 25TH INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL OF NEW MUSIC IN JUNE The Union of Composers and Musicologists of Moldova will conduct the 25th International Festival “Days of New Music” in Chisinau on June 4-12.

 

Director of the festival Ghenadie Ciobanu said at the Wednesday’s news conference at Infotag that the festival will include modern music of new thematic and different styles.

 

“We do not discriminate any musical direction and we conduct the festival to enlarge people’s awareness about modern music”, he said.

 

According to him, the event is aimed at familiarizing people with values of modern music.

 

Musicians and composers from Poland, Romania, Spain, Estonia, Russia, Canada, Italy, Israel will participate in the festival, being accompanied by the Teleradio-Moldova Orchestra, conducted by Gheorghe Mustea and National Philharmonics Orchestra, conducted by Mihai Agafita.

 

Concerts will be conducted in the “Ginta Latina” Center of Culture and Arts, the National Philharmonics, the National Art Museum, the Zemstvo Museum.

 

The festival opening will take place in the Organ Hall, where modern Polish music will be performed by Chamber Orchestra of the Elblag city (Poland), conducted by Pavel Kotla.

 

The festival is organized with the assistance of Polish, British, Estonian Embassies to Moldova, as well as of Mihai Eminescu Romanian Culture Institute, the National Art Museum, the Culture and Art Center “Ginta Latina”, the National Museum of Ethnography and Natural History, the Teleradio-Moldova state company, the National Philharmonics, the Organ Hall, the Academy of Music, Theater and Fine Arts.
