OHM CHAIRMAN URGES OPPOSITION PARTIES TO SUPPORT POLITICAL PRISONERS

06 june, 2016
OHM CHAIRMAN URGES OPPOSITION PARTIES TO SUPPORT POLITICAL PRISONERS “Our Home is Moldova” (OHM) party leader Grigore Petrenco called on opposition parties to support political prisoners from Petrenco’s group, who remained under arrest, and to participate in protest actions in support to the arrested demonstrators.

At the Friday’s news conference at Infotag, Petrenco said that the postponement of the May 23 court hearing to June 6 was intentional to prevent the protesters from leaving the city or the country.

He frowned at the fact that he – a politician, is prohibited to leave the city and conduct his activity in the territory of Moldova, and that he is banned to leave the country for participation in foreign meetings and projects.

“Starting from September 8, 2015, when searches were conducted in the OHM office, till now neither documents, nor CDs were returned back, the fact that prevents the party from continuing its activity; our people cannot work”, Petrenco said.

According to him, the border police prohibited him to fly abroad.

“I addressed to the Sectorul Riscani court with the demand to be given back my passport to be able to go abroad for participating in international activities and meetings, but the court ignored my request”, said the OHM Chairman.

He said that the ruling regime is afraid, this is why it took such measures against political prisoners – so that people to not be able to go abroad and tell about all the violations.

Petrenco prevented that if the situation does not change and he is not allowed to participate in foreign structures’ meetings, tougher measures will be taken.

“Moldova’s development partners should apply more drastic sanctions against people who are committing lawlessness, who captured the state”, Petrenco said.

He added that the Constitutional Court decided that first instance court does not have the right to issue decisions in absence of an imprisonment term, thus all the political prisoners from the Petrenco’s group should have been released back on May 26 and should not have been detained in airport.

Petrenco said that the June 6 court hearing will become crucial.
