MOLDOVANS TRUST IN PSRM LEADER IGOR DODON MOST

The majority of Moldovan citizens trust in leaders of the Party of Socialists Igor Dodon, regarding him as best candidate to the post of president, whose direct elections were dated to October 30, 2016. These are the data of the opinion poll, conducted by the Social Opinion Fund at the order of the www.curentul.md portal.
The Fund’s Director Andrei Luchian said at the Monday’s news conference at Infotag that 40.1% respondents said they trust in Dodon, 39.8% – in Chairwoman of the Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS) Maia Sandu, 37.8% – in Partidul Nostru [OP, Our Party] leader Renato Usatii, 25.6% respondents – Chairman of the Party “Demnitate si Adevar” [DA, “Dignity and Justice”] Andrei Nastase and Chairman of the European People's Party of Moldova (EPPM) Iurie Leanca – 25.6% each, while Chisinau Mayor, Deputy Chairman of the Liberal Party (LP) Dorin Chirtoaca – 24.9%.
The least trust people have in Democratic Party Deputy Chairman Vlad Plahotniuc, who is mistrusted by 94.5% respondents, LP Chairman Mihai Ghimpu – 90.7%, businessman Ion Sturza – 87.5%, Parliament Speaker Adrian Candu – 86.7%, DP Chairman Marian Lupu – 86.4%, Moldovan Communist Party (MCP) Chairman Vladimir Voronin – 78.6%.
At the question who of politicians is the best candidate to the post of president of Moldova, respondents were naming candidates by themselves. 18.1% said Dodon, 11.4% – Maia Sandu, 9% – Renato Usatii, Andrei Nastase – 7.7%, Vladimir Voronin – 5.1%, Iurie Leanca – 3.9%, Marian Lupu – 3.7%. 22% of respondents did not name any politician.
If presidential elections were conducted next Sunday (respondents were provided with a list of candidates), 29% of people would vote for Dodon, 16.9% – for Sandu, 10.9% – Nastase, 8.3% – Voronin, 8.1% – Leanca, 6.1% – Lupu, 1.1% – Candu. The rest of candidates from the list got less than 1%.
Asked about what party they are supporting, 42.4% spoke for PSRM, 38.2% – Our Party, 36.4% – PAS, 29.7% – DA, 26% – EPPM, MCP – 23.4%, DP – 14.7%, LP –12.3%, LDPM – 7.3%.
If parliamentary elections were held next Sunday, PSRM would get 26.3% votes of respondents, PAS – 15.4%, OP – 12.4%, DA – 11.3%, MCP – 7.9%, DP – 7.3%, LP – 3%, LDPM – 1.4%.
Respondents also were asked whom Moldova should be with: Russia or the European Union. 54.4% chosen the first variant, 45.6% - the second.
If a referendum for Moldova’s accession to Romania would be held next Sunday, 22.3% would vote for, while 63.3% – against.
Only 6% respondents said they are rather satisfied with the situation in Moldova, while 93% - that they are dissatisfied.
The most popular TV channels where citizens get the necessary information from are: Prime – 22.9%, Jurnal TV – 22.3%, Moldova1 – 19.1%, ProTV – 10.3%, Publica TV – 8%.
Infotag’s dossier: The opinion poll was carried out among over 4.6 thousand residents of 294 various-level populated areas across Moldova on May 21 through June 15. The pollsters are saying that error should not exceed ±1.5%.
