SMEs REFUSE NEGOTIATING WITH GOVERNMENT UNTIL THEIR DEMANDS ARE FULFILLED

SMEs REFUSE NEGOTIATING WITH GOVERNMENT UNTIL THEIR DEMANDS ARE FULFILLED Representatives of Moldovan small and medium enterprises (SMEs) refuse to conduct dialog with the Government until their demands are fulfilled. They also intend to conduct massive protest actions in autumn.

Chairman of the Moldovan Small Businesses Association Eugen Roscovanu said at the Tuesday’s conference that owners of patents intend to boycott meetings with the Government and will continue demanding cancellation of the decision that provides cessation of entrepreneurial patent activity starting from 2017.

According to him, after the patent is cancelled, small enterprise owners will be forced to register individual enterprises and conduct the accounting, install cash registers, while this means high expenses.

Many entrepreneurs will move into the shadow economy sector. Currently, only 6-7% of 17 thousand individual enterprises are active. De facto, the Government forces small businesses to move to shadow economy it allegedly tries to eradicate, but in fact it is doing nothing for this, Roscovanu maintained.

He said that the Economy Ministry again invited SMEs representatives to negotiations, but the dialog is impossible without fulfillment of patent entrepreneurs’ demands.

Independent counselor from Stefan Voda Olga Ceapchi said that the Moldovan authorities try to get rid of small and medium enterprises, doing everything possible that the employable population to leave the country and only pensioners to remain.

The counselor urged Deputy Premier, Minister of Economy Octavian Calmic to make a trip across the country and see the state of things, the situation in agricultural lands, how many educations institutions are being closed.

According to her, the idea to work with the cash registers is deceiving people.

Rezina regional counselor Alexandru Visnevschi said that the presence of shadow economy means that the economy Ministry has done everything possible for its existence.

“Why the ministry is reluctant to solve issues on eradicating shadow economy, tax evasion, but decided to cancel patents? We are not against paying additional taxes, but the authorities do not need this, it is easier for them to simply cancel patents”, the counselor frowned.

Patent holders consider that the Government’s information that before there were 40 thousand owners of patents, while today there are just 12 thousand is not fully reliable. According to them, the rest moved into shadow economy, but keep working.

SMEs owners said they will not conduct protest action on Wednesday, but intend to organize rallies in autumn.
