04 octomber, 2016
PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE MIHAI CORJ WITHDRAWS FROM ELECTION RACE Candidate for the post of Moldovan president Mihai Corj renounced participation in the forthcoming elections and withdrew his candidacy.

At a news conference at Infotag he said that he faced difficulties during the raising of signatures, in particular, people wanted to sign but were afraid to do this.

“After such problems and breakings of legislation, committed by other candidates, the decision was taken to withdraw our candidature from electoral race. We do not want to participate at elections with violations, were there are just oligarchs; we do not want to play someone’s game. We will continue to further work and identify violations in legislation”, the lawyer said.

According to him, he will go to the Central Election Commission to return back the signature lists with people’s signatures, as these are personal data.

“We obey the law. Also, we will demand amending of the Election Code, so that all the candidates to start the election campaign at the same time. In the current version, the Code says that the election campaign starts 30 days before elections, while the election propaganda – immediately after the candidate got registered”, Corj said.

He said that the election campaign should start when all the candidates are registered. Also, according to him, the installing of a billboard with the name of Democratic Party, distribution of capes with the name of DA party and the distribution of candidates’ leaflets are violations.

“If people do not become braver and do not begin electing the best of candidates, the one who came to change everything to better, the situation in the country will never change”, Corj said.
