 IGOR DODON KEEPS LEADING AMONG PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES – VOX POPULI The leader of the Moldovan parliamentary opposition Party of Socialists (PSRM) Igor Dodon maintains lead among potential candidates for President of Moldova, as per the October 2016 Vox Populi-2 opinion poll, whose results were presented in Infotag on Friday.

 

Association of Sociologists and Demographers Chairman Victor Mocanu said at the presentation that if a presidential election were held next Sunday, Socialist Igor Dodon would receive 40.5% votes (and among those who have already decided they will go to the polls and know whom they will vote for – 46.4%).

 

Democratic Party leader Marian Lupu would poll 13.2% ballots (15.1%), Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS) Chairperson Maia Sandu – 13% (14.9%), DA Platform leader Andrei Nastase – 7.8% (8.9%), European People’s Party of Moldova Iurie Leanca – 4.9% (5.6%), Our Party candidate Dmitry Ciubasenco – 4.4% (5%), Liberal Party Chairman Mihai Ghimpu – 0.7% (0.8%).

 

If the election were held on the nearest Sunday, 52% respondents stated they would necessarily take part in it, 35% said – “most probably, I will”, and 7% said they would not go.

 

The Vox Populi opinion poll was carried out on October 9 through 18. It involved 1,569 adult residents of 83 various-type populated areas situated all over Moldova. The pollsters are saying that error should not exceed ±2.4%.
