ANNA URSACHI DESCRIBES “ABSOLUTELY ILLEGITIMATE” SEARCH ORGANIZED TO INTIMIDATE HER

ANNA URSACHI DESCRIBES “ABSOLUTELY ILLEGITIMATE” SEARCH ORGANIZED TO INTIMIDATE HER Renowned Moldovan lawyer Anna Ursachi characterized as “absolutely illegitimate” the police search undertaken by the Prosecution service and police in the Chisinau apartment where her son and her father live.

On Tuesday, Anna Ursachi organized a video press conference at Infotag and stated that the search was undertaken without a sanction from the court but just upon a notification made by the prosecutor – the nighttime intruder who appeared in the house with a permission given to him by Acting Prosecutor General Eduard Harunjen. Besides this, the search was made in the absence of a lawyer and after 10 pm, which is prohibited by the law.

Anna Ursachi stated that there may be only one explanation to “such unlawful, disgusting behavior of the prosecutors – because I specialize in defending Moldova citizens in very loud cases and because I am known for my active civil position”.

“The current coordinator of the Moldovan ruling coalition, oligarch Vlad Plahotniuc, has subdued practically all state institutions in Moldova and uses them as an instrument for the regime of overt banditry treatment of people he dislikes. Any person in Moldova can be easily locked up in jail, and the obedient law enforcement can initiate a criminal litigation without whatever grounds. Quite many people have already passed through this – Alexander Petkov, Grigore Petrenco and his party comrades, Renato Usatii, Andrei Nastase, Veaceslav Platon and other. And now it is my turn, too”, said the lawyer.

In her words, she does not live in the apartment subjected to the search, but only appears there occasionally, visiting her relatives.

“Nevertheless, they broke into that apartment in a most criminal manner – at night, without permissive documents and by de-energizing it by putting out fuses in the common-use corridor. When my father came out to see what was wrong with the power supply, unknown men broke into the home. The team leader, prosecutor Stefarta, was not sober. In the course of the so-called search, they took away a computer, two tablets and a notebook. I have never worked on most of those gadgets, and they don't belong to me. What was prosecutor Stefarta looking for? I guess for passwords to my Skype and email”, said Anna Ursachi.

She perceives the nighttime invasion as an instrument of pressing on her and her family.

“This is a usual, everyday practice of the Plahotniuc justice he is “reforming”. Corrupt prosecutors, police bosses and judges, who are on Plahotniuc’s salaries, readily press on any person the master fingers at. All this is warmed up by the leading media outlets belonging to Plahotniuc, who portray this lawlessness as a struggle against corruption, or eradication of crime and what not. In my particular case, they started with a disgusting fake – they shot a documentary called “The Devil’s Advocate”, and have now gone as far as unfounded nighttime searches”, said Anna Ursachi.

Anna said she is abroad at the moment, but will come home soon.

“I am not going to hide in foreign countries. Now I am not just a fighter for Moldova citizens’ rights – I am a victim myself. I have already held a part of the meetings I had scheduled for this trip. I should say that the materials on the cases of Veaceslav Platon and Sergiu Cebotari have gone into good, necessary hands. The people working in European organizations strongly dislike human right violation. Quite soon, I will return home and will continue my struggle against the criminal regime of Vlad Plahotniuc”, promised Anna Ursachi.

Infotag’s dossier: Anna Ursachi is a participant in a criminal litigation on a premeditated murder committed 19 years ago. The present-day prosecutors are saying that Ursachi took part in misappropriation of the victim’s housing.
