“Our Home is Moldova” (OHM) party leader Grigore Petrenco regards as illegal the appointment of Eduard Harunjen as Prosecutor General and has challenged this decision in the Superior Council of Prosecutors (SCP).
At the Thursday’s news conference at Infotag, Petrenco said that the urgent appointment of Harunjen is a farce, an imitation of the contest on electing new PG.
“Harunjen has been appointed even before the so-called contest and with a lot of violations. The SCP should have preliminarily elaborated, adopted and published the regulation of Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO) activities, but there is no such information. Another violation is lack of information about testing candidates on lie detector. There was just a press release that such stage of selection has taken place, but there is no information about who elaborated questions, which questions were given to candidates, neither there is a video recording of the testing. One more violation is Harunjen’s swearing in. He should have done it only after the President’s decision is published in the Monitorul Oficial governmental bulletin, but he did not wait for it. All this demonstrates hurry in appointment and concealing of all the violations”, Petrenco said.
According to him, the new prosecutor was elected in the Global Business Center [Vlad Plahotniuc’s company] and the rest of candidates for this post were just for crowd scene.
“There are no prosecutors in the PGO, everyone there are oligarch’s servants”, Petrenco said.
