03 april, 2017
VETERANS CALLED ON PSRM TO WIDELY MARK VICTORY DAY The organization of Moldovan veterans called on PSRM to cast aside political ambitions and to jointly celebrate the 72nd anniversary of the Soviet people’s victory over the Nazi Germany.

Its Chairwoman Alla Mironic said at the Monday’s news conference at Infotag that Socialists’ intention to elaborate their own agenda of celebration is a desire to stand apart from the society and veterans.

“I want to remind that this holiday is especially important for people, who faced the war, thus all the activities should be held under the common banner of Victory”, she said.

War veteran Gheorghe Paruli said that Moldovans should not forget that they are a winning nation.

“I personally participated in battles for liberation of Moldova, Ukraine, Romania, Bulgaria and I think that party interests may not be higher than veterans’ interests”, he stressed.

Chairman of the Straseni raion veterans’ organization Gheorghe Calmis said that his father participated in both world wars.

“I have no right to forget this. If we begin to erase our own history from our memory, we will soon remain with nothing”, he said.

According to veteran Mirca Sava, more than half-a-million of Moldovan people made their contribution to the Victory; 19 of them were decorated with golden star of the Hero of Soviet Union.

“We have won only due to the unity of the people, and it is very important that the notions of friendship and understanding to be preserved in the current generation”, he said.

Alla Mironic said that for supporting the historical memory and truth, a poetic contest is conducted, in which young people are invited. While on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of Victory, it is planned that more than 70 public organizations will conduct a common action “With gratitude to the May”.
