OPINION SURVEY REVEALS THAT PRESIDENT DODON ENJOYS GAGAUZIA RESIDENTS

Among Moldovan politicians, President Igor Dodon enjoys the highest (84.1%) trust of Gagauzia residents, as per the results of the opinion research called "Political Preferences of Gagauzia Residents", carried out by the Intellect Group Company.


Company expert Tatiana Semeniuc said at the survey results presentation held in Infotag on Wednesday that by the level of the population's trust, Following President Dodon, by a large margin, are Our Party leader Renato Usatii (4.4%), Chairperson of the Party of Socialists Zinaida Greceanii (4.2%), DA Platform Chairman Andrei Nastase (2.4%), and Mayor of Orhei Ilan Shor (1.6%). 

Among political parties, the highest trust was given to the Party of Socialists, which is fully or partly trusted by 67.5% respondents. Our Party is trusted by 24.1%, the Moldovan Communist Party - by 18.3%, Ilan Shor Party - by 15.6%, the ruling Democratic Party - by 14.7%, the DA Platform - by 9.4%, and the Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS) - by 7.8%. 

Tatiana Semeniuc said that 75.5% respondents do not trust the PAS, 74.5% -- the DP, 64.5% -- the DA Platform, and 61.4% -- the Ilan Shor Party. 

Among the politicians of the southern Moldovan autonomous region of Gagauzia, the population's highest trust is with the region's incumbent Bashkan [governor] Irina Vlah - 80.4%. Next go Comrat Mayor Sergei Anastasov (45%), previous Bashkan Mikhail Formuzal 33%, deputy of the Gagauzia Popular Assembly Fedor Gagauz 32.6%, GPA deputy Alexander Suhodolsky 32.5%, ex-deputies Piotr Vlah (28.5%) and Nikolai Dudoglo (26.9%). The opinion survey was carried out on October 1-18 in two single-member constituencies formed in Gagauzia - the Comrat and the Ceadir-Lunga constituencies. It involved 903 respondents. The pollsters are saying the error should not be in the excess of В±4%.


...AND THAT OVER A HALF OF GAGAUZIA VOTERS STAND FOR MOLDOVA'S ACCESSION TO THE EAES

54.2% of Gagauzia residents stand for Moldova's accession to the Eurasian Economic Union [of Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia and Kyrgyzstan, EAES], as per the results of the opinion research called "Political Preferences of Gagauzia Residents", carried out by the Intellect Group Company.


The researchers said at the poll result presentation on Wednesday that the proportion of the advocates of the Eurasian integration has grown in Gagauzia compared with the previous opinion poll held here last March, when the figure was 53.6%. 

Simultaneously, the number of citizens standing for Moldova's European Union course has dropped to 5.6% from the previous proportion of 6.9% last March. And 38.4% voted for a mutually beneficial cooperation with all countries without definite preferences.

Over 70% residents believe that the Gagauzia administration should primarily work to consolidate relations with Russia, 32.5% -- with Turkey, 31.9% -- with all countries, and only 4.4% -- with the European Union. 

The researchers revealed that 61.2% respondents are satisfied with the present-day legal status of Gagauzia, 11.9% spoke out for the region's independence, and 4.9% are viewing Gagauzia within another state.
