MOLDOVAN WINE EXPORTS AMOUNTED TO NEARLY 3 BILLION LEI IN 2021
Last year, Moldova exported 2.99 billion lei (US$168 million) worth of wine produce, which was 270 million lei or 9.9% more than in 2020.
According to National Vine and Wine Bureau, the share of bottled wines in the exports grew from 35.4% up to 42.2%: Moldova shipped 48.9 million liters of bottled wines (+3.7%) worth 1775 million lei (+17.6%).
The main consumers of Moldovan wines were Russia -16.2% (+29.5%), Romania - 15.7% (+5.3%) and Poland.
The exports of cask wines diminished by 22.2% - down to 66.9 million liters worth 706.9 million lei (-10.9%). The biggest buyers of such wines were Belarus, Georgia/Abkhazia and Great Britain.
As for brandies and distillates, last year Moldova exported them in the amount of 4.4 million liters of absolute ethanol worth 487.6 million lei.
