IGOR DODON STANDS UP FOR DEVELOPING FRIENDLY RELATIONS WITH RUSSIA AND FOR ORTHODOXY

19 octomber, 2016

On Tuesday, Party of Socialists leader MP Igor Dodon, who is running for President of Moldova, presented Part 3 of his election program. The ceremony was organized at the Eternitate Military Glory Memorial in Chisinau.

Dodon reminded that his election program consists of three parts: Part 1 – Statehood, Neutrality, the Moldovan Identity; Part 2 – Strong Economy, Social Justice; and Part 3 – Friendly Relations with Russia, Protection of Orthodoxy.

The presidential candidate said that the 3rd part of his platform stipulates return of Moldovan produce to the Russian market, resolving of the problem of Moldovan labor migrants, saving of the Orthodox faith and of traditional values.

“Last 7 years, life in Moldova has become unbearable. The authorities calling themselves democratic and pro-European have ruined Moldova’s centuries-long partnership with Russia. As a result, our access to the gigantic, in fact boundless Russian market has been lost. Simultaneously, our authorities are undermining the Christian faith and Orthodox values. The current situation can be corrected by declaring no-confidence in the incumbent rulers and by supporting a candidate capable of bringing back welfare and calm to Moldovans’ homes”, said Igor Dodon.

He reaffirmed that his first presidential visit to a foreign country he will pay to Moscow.

“I will restore our broad friendly ties with the Russian Federation, will initiate the drafting and signature of an Agreement on strategic partnership with the Russian Federation that will stipulate political, economic and social cooperation, a unified approach to settlement of the Transnistrian conflict and guarantees for Moldovan labor migrants staying in Russia”, stated Igor Dodon.

He said that according to official data, over 800 thousand Moldovans earn their living in foreign countries, “but their real number exceeds a million people”. Nearly 700 thousand workers from Moldova stay constantly in Russia, which makes about 70% total number of Moldovan labor migrants.

“I will sign with the Russian Federation a bilateral agreement on social guarantees for our citizens working in Russia. First of all, this pertains to providing pensions to gastarbeiters. In all Russian cities, where the number of Moldova citizens is 10,000 or more, the Moldovan Embassy to Russia will open its consular offices”, stated the candidate.

Touching on Christian values, the Party of Socialists leader said that the profanation of the Church is noticeably gaining momentum, “which means that a blow is being delivered on the statehood and the very future of Moldova”.

“If I am elected President of Moldova, I shall restore traditional Christian values. I will be working in close interaction with the Orthodox Church. I will not permit any pressure on the Church by authorities or insults of the worshippers’ religious feelings. I will be insisting on the cancellation of the Law on Equal Opportunities aimed at promoting the interests of sexual minorities. At the same time, I stand up against including the “Sexual Education” subject into the school program. I guess it is necessary to block and curb the actions by evildoers working to the detriment of the Republic of Moldova”, stated presidential candidate Igor Dodon.
