PAS PARTY DEPUTY BLAMES RUSSIA FOR MOLDOVA'S PLIGHT
The deputy from the ruling Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS), Radu Marian, believes that "the latest increase in electricity prices is a direct impact of the Kremlin's barbaric actions." Marian wrote this on the eve of on his Facebook page, stressing that "the lives of Moldovan citizens continue to be affected by Russia's energy blockade against the Republic of Moldova."
"First of all, we had to terminate our contracts for the purchase of electricity in Ukraine after Russia's bombardment of its energy infrastructure. Although Romania compensated some of these contracts, this transition cannot take place overnight. Secondly, Russia has sharply reduced the volume of gas supplies to Moldova for political reasons," the PAS deputy argued.
According to Marian, the Government is "negotiating intensively with the suppliers of electric energy in Romania, as well as with the Moldavskaya GRES (MGRES), in order to achieve contracts at lower prices."
Moreover, the lawmaker believes that "saving electricity is a sacrifice that citizens have to make for their country."
"Although it is hard for us, our misfortunes are incomparable to the suffering of Ukrainians, who every day bury the dead at the front, and millions of people live without electricity and heat. (...). This is our historic struggle for energy and political independence from the Kremlin. We will succeed if we are solidary and economical," the PAS Party representative is confident.
