MOLDOVA OPENS ITS AIRSPACE BUT ONLY FOR FLIGHTS IN WESTERN DIRECTION

21 march, 2022

From Monday noon, a part of Moldova’s airspace has been reopened for civil aviation, and this will permit to resume regular passenger flights, Moldova’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has announced. It explained, however, that all flights will be possible only westward – through Romania, because Ukraine’s airspace has been closed, so flights to the north, east and south are still impossible.

This decision was taken following a meeting of the Interdepartmental Airspace Management Commission, whose members, after assessing the current security situation, decided to open a part of the airspace so that passenger air transportation could be resumed.

This means that air operators that ran regular flights at the Chisinau airport will be able to resume their activities in the near future.
