TRANSNISTRIAN LEADER REMINDED MOLDOVAN PRESIDENT OF NEED TO APPOINT NEW NEGOTIATOR

03 december, 2021

The Transnistrian leader, Vadim Krasnoselsky, has reminded the Moldovan President, Maia Sandu, of the need to appoint a political representative to negotiate the settlement of the Transnistrian conflict. This was stated in a letter Krasnoselsky handed over on Thursday through the head of the OSCE Permanent Mission to Moldova, Claus Neukirch.

The press service of the region's leader notes that the letter pointed to "the need to immediately appoint a Moldovan representative to the negotiation process, giving impetus to the resumption of the “5+2” format."

Krasnoselsky noted that Neukirch's visit to Tiraspol “came at a time of stagnation in the Moldovan-Transnistrian dialogue.”

"Moldova not only does not participate in the negotiations, but also ignores the commitments it has already undertaken and does not execute the agreements reached earlier. Transnistria advocates the continuation of the negotiation process, the search for compromises and the preservation of peace. The absence of an official representative of Moldova and neglect of the "5+2" format may lead to negative consequences," Krasnoselsky stressed.

On November 5, Chisinau's former negotiator, Vlad Kulminsky, announced his resignation from the post of deputy prime minister for reintegration, explaining this by “personal circumstances”.
