DAUGHTER OF PAS PARTY DEPUTY VICTORIA CAZACU SAID SHE AND HER FAMILY WERE "INVOLVED IN POLITICAL SCANDAL"
Customs inspector Diana Cazacu, daughter of ruling PAS Party MP, Victoria Cazacu, has said that she and her family were "involved in a political scandal." She stated at a press conference at INFOTAG agency on Tuesday that behind the scandal "are the hidden interests and grievances of certain personalities."

Last week, the Nationcal Anti-Corruption Center conducted searches at the Chisinau airport customs in a corruption case. Diana Cazacu stressed she "is being held as a suspect in the case because the investigation has no evidence to press charges."

"I am open to cooperation with law enforcement bodies and I am sure that I will get justice and prove that I am clean before the law," she emphasized.

Cazacu believes that the reason for her involvement in this "scandal" was the fact that in the fall of 2023, the then head of the Customs Service Igor Talmazan offered her as a potential candidate for the head of customs at the airport.

"The attitude of the head of (airport) customs towards me changed, and then I realized that unpleasant surprises could await me. It is very unfortunate that after the searches at the airport, public attacks on my family, especially on my mother - MP Victoria Cazacu (whom the parliament speaker, PAS Party leader Igor Grosu urged to resign - "I.")," Cazacu stressed.

She also emphasized that her activity has never been related to her family, including her mother. She also reminded that everyone bears "personal responsibility". Cazacu believes that Igor Talmazan (who resigned after the incident) was also a "victim of this scandal."

Cazacu declined to answer press questions or provide details, but expressed her willingness to provide additional information in a written interview or television program.

Following the airport corruption scandal, Igor Talmazan announced his resignation. Victoria Cazacu was expelled from the party and the parliamentary faction. However, she refused to fulfill the demand of the Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu to resign her mandate. She said that she would remain an independent MP until all the circumstances are clarified, calling for the presumption of innocence with regard to her daughter.
