"YOUNG GUARD" ENCOURAGES YOUNG PEOPLE TO PARTICIPATE IN "VICTORY MARCH" ON MAY 9
The leader of the "Young Guard" public organization, Nichita Romenschi, has urged the patriotic youth of Moldova and everyone to participate in the "Victory March" on May 9 in Chisinau.

He said at a press conference at the INFOTAG agency on Wednesday that "the event will be held without party flags - only under the Victory banner and state flags of the Republic of Moldova."

The activist called it "sacrilege" that "in this jubilee year of Moldova's liberation from fascism, politicians use party symbols at the actions of commemoration and honoring the soldiers who gave their lives."

He named the main goal that the “Young Guard” intends to promote during these May days as "preservation of peace on earth" and "peaceful solution of problems."

The coordinator of the international organization "Victory Volunteers" Ecaterine Medvedeva said that, as in previous years, in Chisinau and a number of cities in the country will be held the action "Victory Waltz", which is planned for 6 or 8 May.

"Works have been carried out to improve the memorials of soldiers who gave their lives for the liberation of Moldova 80 years ago. The graves of soldiers in civilian cemeteries have been improved. Unfortunately, most of the graves have been abandoned for a long time. Nobody takes care of them...," she complained.

Medvedeva added that during the year, festivals of songs of the war years were held in various settlements of the country, assistance was provided to the remaining war veterans.

"Exhibitions of wartime photographs and excursions to memorial sites, including the Sherpa bridgehead, have been organized. These events arouse interest and participation of citizens, especially the younger generation," she concluded.
