ACCORDING TO TRANSNISTRIAN DATA, SUGAR IMPORTS FROM MOLDOVA INTO REGION INCREASED 35 TIMES IN FIRST QUARTER OF 2024

According to Transnistrian customs officials, sugar imports from Moldova to the region increased 35 times in the first quarter of 2024. The overall figures show that in general, the import of products to the region from Moldova decreased by 9% (516 thousand dollars). According to the data of the customs office of the region, in January-March, imports from Moldova of milk and cream increased by 15%, sour-milk products - by 18%, eggs - by 17%, poultry meat - by 5%. The main countries of origin of food imported to the region since the beginning of 2024 have been the European Union (10.6 million dollars) and Ukraine (6.3 million dollars).
