NATIONAL PROGRAM “CASHLESS PAYMENTS” STARTS IN MOLDOVA ON APRIL 25

24 april, 2024

In 2023, Moldova recorded more than 185 million non-cash transactions, which according to experts' estimates, constitutes an “unprecedented growth” for the republic.

As reported by INFOTAG, despite such results, some segments of Moldovan society still percepe non-cash payment methods sceptically, whether it's paying bills online, purchasing with a bank card, or using an electronic wallet.

“This reluctance is fueled by a number of fears and concerns that the population has regarding banking technologies,” noted a source from the Moldovan Banking Association (MBA).

According to him, to address such fears and stimulate an increase in the number of non-cash payments, the Moldovan Banking Association, in partnership with Visa and with the support of the “Future Technologies Agency” project funded by USAID, Sweden, and the United Kingdom, is organizing the National Campaign “Cashless Payments.” The launch ceremony of the campaign will take place on Thursday, April 25.
