OAZU NANTOI MP: RUSSIA IS PREPARING SCENARIOS TO DESTABILIZE THE SITUATION IN MOLDOVA IN ORDER TO SEIZE POWER

03 may, 2024

Oazu Nantoi, an MP from the Action and Solidarity party, believes that “Russia is preparing scenarios to destabilize the situation in Moldova in order to seize power.” As INFOTAG reports, Nantoi said this on Thursday evening during a program on JurnalTV channel.

“Moscow has realized that their candidates cannot win the presidential election against Maia Sandu. Therefore, they are preparing other scenarios. They created the Victory bloc in Moscow not at all to participate in the elections and win in a fair fight. As they say, we risk not seeing the forest for the trees. There they created a similar to “Wagner” group in order to seize power in Moldova. And the main part of this group is the 'fifth column', which is here in Moldova,” Nantoi said.

The parliamentarian expressed confidence that “Putin's regime will lose in Moldova this time too, as it chooses partners who a priori cannot win."

“Nevertheless, they develop scenarios. Realizing that they cannot win the elections, the Kremlin's task is to disrupt the referendum on European integration and the presidential election. They proceed, among other things, from the fact that the Constitution cannot be changed in a state of emergency, state of siege or martial law. I do not rule out that they are seeking destabilization in order to impose a state of emergency. (...). They are preparing a destabilization scenario to take control of Moldova and create a pro-Russian bridgehead in the rear of Ukraine and on the border with NATO. Their maximum program is to seize power in Moldova, to “solve” the problem of Transnistria by federalizing the country and to create a Russian military base so that the troops stay here forever. We must not allow this to happen. I will not wait like a sheep to be sacrificed,” said Oazu Nantoi.
