CONGRESS IN TIRASPOL WILL ADDRESS MOSCOW WITH REQUEST TO ACCEPT TRANSNISTRIA INTO RUSSIA – OPPOSITIONIST

21 february, 2024

The congress of all-level deputies of the unrecognized Transnistrian Moldovan Republic (PMR) has been scheduled for February 28. And on the following day, February 29, President Vladimir Putin will make his Annual Address to the country’s Federal Assembly [bicameral parliament], Transnistrian oppositionist Ghenadie Ciorba wrote on social networks today.

He presumes that command to organize such a congress in Tiraspol came here from Moscow.

“At the Tiraspol forum, a request should be voiced on behalf of PMR citizens to accept Transnistria into the Russian Federation, and on February 29, Putin will announce this in his Address, and the Federal Assembly will quickly decide to satisfy the request,” wrote Ghenadie Ciorba.

The oppositionist believes that the congress fits well into the protest rally organized recently in Tiraspol against the economic pressure of Moldova, and aims to show that “the people of Transnistria unanimously condemn the authorities of Chisinau.”

“Hence is the recent statement made by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov - that Moscow shall not leave in trouble its citizens living in Transnistria,” Ciorba wrote.

He called on Transnistrian deputies to prevent the adoption of an appeal that would give Putin “the legal right to strike the territory of Moldova, including Transnistria, under any pretext.”

“Madam President Sandu, your entourage frightened you in every possible way that Russia would strike at the territory of Moldova. One thing you did not take into account is that the psychology of the current Russian leadership, in particular of Putin, is very similar to the psychology of Adolf Hitler of the late 1930s. Attempts to appease people like Putin lead to only one thing – to a growing appetite of the aggressor. Well, continue to live in your own invented world, where advisers scare you, and you think that all problems will resolve if you don’t touch them with your hands,” concluded Ciorba.
