…MIGRANTS AND TRAFFIC VICTIMS TO BE EQUIPPED WITH MICRO-CREDITS (NEWS CONFERENCE IN INFOTAG)

Chisinau, May 4 (Infotag). In the framework of the “Migrant” Program, launched in Moldova in 2003, the International Labor Organization will furnish 70 interest-free credits for Moldovan nationals who have worked abroad or are going to go there as well as for human trafficking victims, it was announced at the news conference in Infotag today.

Zhanna Costache of the ILO said the credits, whose size will not exceed a thousand euros, are targeted at starting own private businesses. These will be available, for instance, to women having in their mind to go abroad, but who are smart enough and able to establish their own business in Moldova.

Another category of credit recipients are young families that have already returned from abroad, have earned some money, but need a little bit more to launch their own business.

The Migrant Program, funded by the Government of Ireland, is designed to work 2 years. The program is aimed also at protecting the rights of migrant workers, at helping them get better integrated, at achieving international consensus on migration management, and at promoting the creation of a long-term system of licensing of agents specializing in people employment.
