Chisinau, March 22 (Infotag). The Moldovan Baseball and Softball Federation is going to complete the building of its own stadium near the Chisinau Circus by the end of this year, Federation Manager Andrei Butnari told a news conference in Infotag today.

In his words, the modern facility will be fit not only for domestic training sessions and national championships but also for hosting European competitions. The latter international issue was already discussed with colleagues from Italy, Ireland, Germany, Bulgaria, and Poland.

The stadium construction has been under way for 1.5 years by now, coming across problems due to under-funding. By now, the financial problem has been resolved, said Butnari.

Federation President and leader of the Ravnopraviye [Equal Rights] Socio-Political Movement Mr. Valery Klimenko is convinced Moldovan baseball players deserve promotion to the world level. Recently, the coach of the Italian national team Mr. Giuseppe Massellucci visited Chisinau and highly appreciated Moldovan athletes skills. This year, one of local coaches will take a course of professional training at the Major League Baseball Academy in Italy, Klimenko said.

Moldova’s 4th national baseball championship will begin on March 27. It will involve 5 teams.
