Chisinau, June 20 (Infotag). Independent candidate for Chisinau Mayor Mihai Severovan maintains that the election campaign abounds in law violations.

Severovan convened a news conference in Infotag today and referred, in particular, to the last week’s statement made by the “Consumer Protection” non-governmental organization which – in defiance of the Law on public associations, which prohibits organizations’ involvement in political activities – stated it would be backing the Communist Party candidate Zinaida Grechanaya. He is also concerned that persons under age are used in the campaign for distribution of Grechanaya leaflets.

“Besides this, these leaflets contain no information about their circulation figure or the printing house that printed them. The electoral legislation is thus grossly ignored”, said the independent candidate.

Mihai Severovan demanded from the Central Electoral Commission and the Chisinau District Electoral Board to punish the Communist Party candidate, and from the OSCE – to include the above violations into its election report.

He called upon all candidates to demonstrate a maximum-possible correctness during the campaign and behave in strict accordance with democratic standards.
