07.10.2005 ADER AND GTZ LAUNCH JOINT PROJECT

Chisinau, October 7 (Infotag). With financial assistance provided by the German Bureau for Technical Cooperation [Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Technische Zusammenarbeit, GTZ], the Moldovan Association for Democracy, Education and Reforms (ADER) has launched a project named “Possibilities of Opening Own Private Business by Young Female Journalists”.

ADER Chairman Igor Volnitchi told a news conference in Infotag today the project will function 5 months – from this October till February 2006. In its frame, seminars will be organized on legal and economic aspects of starting and conducting the information business, management skills, etc. Skilled experts and prominent journalists will be invited to take part in the seminars.

Volnitchi said, “The project will involve 15 young lady journalists selected through a contest. Why young ladies? The thing is, nearly 90% graduates from universities’ journalism departments in Moldova are young women, whereas the information business in this republic is run overwhelmingly by men. So, we have decided to underpin young women wishing to start their own business”.

GTZ Manager Aurelia Crozu said that upon project completion, the young journalists may submit their business plans to the GTZ, and the best of them will receive financial assistance from the German Bureau – grants up to 2,000 euros. However, each applicant will be supposed to make its own monetary contribution to the business.

In 2005, the Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Technische Zusammenarbeit launched yet another project in this republic, “Introduction of women’s entrepreneurship in Moldova”, and stands ready to help open up to 50 private businesses by Moldovan women.

The Association for Democracy, Education and Reforms is a non-governmental and non-profit organization founded in May 2003. It works to promote democratic reforms and help educate the local society in the spirit of democratic values. ADER attaches a particular attention to programs aimed at developing society transformation skills with young people.

GTZ is an international organization offering viable, promising solutions for economic, social and ecological development. Established in 1975 by the German Federal Government, GTZ is currently implementing nearly 2.7 thousand programs and projects in over 100 countries across the world. Functioning in Moldova since 1994, GTZ is now realizing 5 projects in this republic.
