ONLY THREE POLITICAL PARTIES ARE ABLE TO CLEAR ELECTION THRESHOLD – OPINION POLL

If a parliamentary election were held in Moldova next Sunday by using the proportional representation system, only three political forces would be able to win seats in the new forum – the Party of Socialists (PSRM), the Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS) and the political party called Platform “Demnitate si Adevar” [DA, “Dignity and Justice”], as per the opinion poll results presented in Infotag on Wednesday by the Public Opinion Foundation.        

According to the research, the PSRM may count on the ballots of 38.6% respondents, PAS – 23.3%, DA Platform – 5.1%, and the rest parties appear to be unable to clear the 5% election threshold, namely the Democratic Party is popular among only 3.8% interviewed citizens, the Ilan Shor Party – among 3.2%, Our Party – 2.8%, the Communist Party (MCP) – 1.6%, the National Unity Party (PUN) – 1.2%, the Liberal Party – 1.1%.     

9.7% respondents stated they would not go to the polls, and 7.8% were uncertain.

But among definitely determined voters, the PSRM would poll 47.6%, PAS – 28.7%, DA Platform – 6.3%, DPM – 4.7%, Ilan Shor Party – 3.9%, Our Party – 3.4%, MCP – 2%, PUN – 1.5%, and Liberal Party – 1.4%.

If Moldova held a presidential election next Sunday, 40.2% respondents would cast ballots for incumbent President Igor Dodon, for PAS leader Maia Sandu – 24%, for DA Platform Chairman Andrei Nastase – 4.4%, for DPM leader Pavel Filip – 3.1%, for Our Party leader Renato Usatii – 2.8%.

Another 9.6% respondents stated they would vote “against all”, 4.9% would not go to polling stations, and 5.3% were uncertain.   

But among definitely determined voters, Igor Dodon may win a victory already in the first round by polling 50.1%, and Maia Sandu would receive 29.9%.  

The Public Opinion Foundation carried out the research on February 22 through March 7 among 1798 respondents by order of the TVC21 channel. The pollsters are saying the error should not be in the excess of ±2.3%.  

 


OVER ONE-HALF OF MOLDOVANS SAY COUNTRY SHOULD BE CLOSER TO THE WEST AND EUROPE

Moldova should be closer to the West and Europe, said 54% of participants in the poll, the result of which were presented by the Public Opinion Foundation at the Wednesday's news conference at Infotag.

If a referendum was held in Moldova on the issue of accession one of economic blocks, 48.7% would vote for the European Union, and 32.5% for the Eurasian Economic Union [of Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia and Kyrgyzstan, EAES]. 6.5% respondents said they would vote against both unions, 3.3% would not participate in the plebiscite. 7.5% have not decided yet, 1.5% did not answer the question.

In case of a referendum about the unification of Moldova and Romania, 30.1% would vote for, while 53.2% citizens would vote against. 6.1% more citizens would not participate in the voting, 8.6% said they have not decided yet, 2% - did not answer the question.

58.1% respondents voted against Moldova's accession to the NATO, 19.3% are for the accession. 8.9% citizens would not participate in such a referendum, 11.3% said they are uncertain, 2.4% did not answer the question.

The opinion poll was carried out among 1798 respondents on February 22 through March 7 at the request of the TVC 21 channel. The pollsters are saying that error should not exceed В±2.3%.



MOST MOLDOVANS ARE DISCONTENTED WITH SITUATION IN THE COUNTRY - POLL

Most Moldovan citizens are dissatisfied with the state of things the republic, says the results of the opinion poll, presented in Infotag on Wednesday.

46.3% respondents are very discontented with the situation in Moldova, 37.3% - rather discontent, 13% - rather content, 1.7% - completely satisfied, 1.6% - found it difficult to respond.

According to the population, the main problems in Moldova are: bad roads (18.1%), high food prices (8,2%), unemployment and lack of jobs (7%), street lighting (6.7%), cleaning in localities (5.6%), medical services (5.2%).

Among the less important problems there are: potable water supply (2.4%), improvement of courtyards (2.3%), recreation places in localities (2.2%), functioning of schools and kindergartens (2%), absence or poor condition of local markets and the condition of residential houses (1.6%).
