PSRM, PAS, DPM AND DA PLATFORM HAVE CHANCES FOR WINNING SEATS IN NEXT PARLIAMENT - OPINION POLL

If a parliamentary election were held in Moldova next Sunday on the basis of the proportional representation system, mandates in new parliament would be won only by 4 political forces - the Party of Socialists, the Party of Action and Solidarity, the Democratic Party and the DA Platform party, as per the findings of the opinion research Vox Populi, which were presented at Infotag by the Association of Sociologists and Demographers of Moldova today.

According to the findings, 33.9% respondents are ready to vote for the PSRM, whereas for the PAS - 15.3%, the DPM - 6.1%, and for the DA Platform - 5.2%; for Our Party - 3.1%, Communist Party - 1.8%, Ilan Shor Party - 1.5%, National Unity Party (PUN) - 1.2%.

20.7% respondents were uncertain, and 9.5% stated they would not go to the polls.

Association Chairman Victor Mocanu said at the presentation that merely 13.9% respondents are favoring the idea of holding an early parliamentary election in 2020, whereas 71.1% are negative about it. And only 58.4% stated readiness to go to the election should it really take place this year.

The poll was carried out by the Association on May 1-7 by telephone among 1141 respondents residing in 418 populated areas. The pollsters are saying the error should not be in the excess of В±3%.




ONLY TWO POTENTIAL CANDIDATES HAVE CHANCES FOR SECOND PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION ROUND - POLL

Chances for passing into the second round of the 2020 presidential election are available only with incumbent President Igor Dodon and Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS) Chairperson Maia Sandu, as per the Vox Populi findings.

Igor Dodon is likely to receive 38.5% ballots, Maia Sandu - 16.2%, DA Platform leader Andrei Nastase - 6.7%, Our Party leader Renato Usatii - 5.9%, Democratic Party Chairman Pavel Filip - 3.7%, Prime Minister Ion Chicu - 3.1%, PUN leader Octavian Ticu - 2.9%, and Communist Party leader Vladimir Voronin - 1.5%.

In the rating of citizens' trust in politicians, President Igor Dodon maintains lead with 31.7%, followed by Maia Sandu with 13%, Ion Chicu - 12.1%, Chisinau Mayor Ion Ceban - 6.9%, Pavel Filip - 5.7%, Parliament Speaker Zinaida Greceanii - 5.2%, Renato Usatii - 5%, Andrei Nastase - 2.4%, Vladimir Voronin - 1.1%. The rating of trust in all the rest politicians is below 1% put together.


ONLY HALF OF MOLDOVANS WOULD AGREE TO VACCINATION AGAINST COVID-19 - POLL

Only slightly over one-half of Moldova citizens namely 52.3% would agree to vaccination against the COVID-19, had such a vaccine existed, while 33.8% would refuse to, and 13.9% are uncertain, as per the Vox Populi findings.

Sociologist Andrei Dumbraveanu remarked at the presentation at Infotag on Tuesday that discussions on the vaccination question in the Moldovan society began quite long ago. And the reason why some people have doubts about the expediency of such vaccination is the peculiarity of the coronavirus emergence and of the pandemic development.

In his words, the poll has demonstrated that the Moldovan public has a fairly low level of trust in surrounding people. Thus, only 25.4% respondents said they can trust to most of people, 49.5% prefer to be vigilant, 11.9% have no trust in people whatsoever, and 13.2% were uncertain.

Most of the interviewed people (68.5%) believe that the Moldova citizens returning home from foreign countries must buy Health Insurance Policies, 21.6% think diametrically differently, and 9.9% were uncertain.


POVERTY IS THE MAIN PROBLEM THAT CONCERNS MOLDOVANS THE MOST - OPINION POLL

Poverty, lack of money and high prices are the main problem that concerns 32.2% people in Moldova, as per the findings of the opinion research Vox Populi, which were presented at Infotag by the Association of Sociologists and Demographers of Moldova today.

According to findings, the COVID-19 pandemic and the situation in the healthcare system are only on the second place, worrying 25.4% respondents. Then follow the problems related to the demographic situation and migration (19.1%), corruption (16%), children's future (14.7%), economy and unemployment (13.6%), social infrastructure (11.1%), political situation (9.3%) and environmental problems and risks (6.9%).

In the present-day situation, Moldova citizens fear the most the death of their family members or other close relatives (63.4%). Then follows fear that the Moldovan healthcare system may fail to manage the flow of coronavirus-infected patients (47.9%), apprehensions to lose one's job or suffer an income cut (45.3%), an economic fall (39.1%), family violence (33%), the fear of school and/or kindergarten closure (29.6%).

Less than a half of respondents (38.4%) agree with the assertion that the Government must first and foremost focus on supporting the economy and not on combating the COVID-19. But 54.1% respondents disagreed with that assertion.

At the same time, a considerable part of citizens, namely 44.2%, support the idea that businesses should receive a more considerable state support, 34.5% think the other way round, and 21.3% are uncertain.

The opinion poll was carried out by the Association of Sociologists and Demographers of Moldova on May 1-7 by telephone among 1141 respondents residing in 418 populated areas. The pollsters are saying the error should not be in the excess of В±3%.
