Only the Party of Action and Solidarity, the Ilan Sor Party and the voting bloc of Communists and Socialists have chances for winning seats in the future Parliament of Moldova, as per the findings of the opinion research Vox Populi for May 2021, which were presented at Infotag by the Association of Sociologists and Demographers of Moldova on Monday.

According to the research, if the election were held next Sunday, the PAS would receive 27.8% votes, the voting bloc of Communists and Socialists [aka Left bloc] - 26.9%, and the Sor Party - 5.7%.

All the rest contesters would not clear the election threshold of 5%, the Association of Sociologists and Demographers says. Namely, the Renato Usatii voting bloc can count on 3.3% i.e. within the opinion poll's statistical error, the Platforma DA - 2.5%, the Democratic Party - 1.9%. All the rest campaigners are facing the risk of polling less than 1% ballots. However, as many as 24.9% respondents were uncertain or refused to answer this question.

The above figures were received from the group of the so-called 'random respondents'. But in the other group - of the so-called 'determined voters' who know whom they will vote for, the findings were as follows: such voters also presume that only the said 3 election participants have chances for parliament. Namely, the PAS would receive 37%, the Left bloc - 35.8%, and the Sor Party - 7.6%.

According to the poll, the voter turnout may be quite high: 66.3% respondents stated they would go to the polls - "definitely", yet another 15.8% said they would go "most probably".

35.8% respondents believe that elections in Moldova are held "freely and fairly"; 43.9% believe - "partly freely and partly fairly"; and 14.7% think the other way round.

The opinion poll was carried out on May 14 to 22. It covered 1183 people eligible to vote, residing in 85 various-type localities across the republic, except the Transnistrian region. The pollsters are saying the error should not be in the excess of В±3%.
