AVICOLA-NORD SHAREHOLDER DEMANDS POLICE TO CHECK POULTRY FACTORY’S ACTIVITIES
Chisinau. Gheorghe Birladean Jr., the holder of 35% shares of Avicola-Nord poultry factory, has requested the Center for Combating Economic Crimes and Corruption (CCECC) to examine the legitimacy of the activities of another holder of 35% shares – Energoresurse company, for he believes this second partner has committed a number of illicit actions.
“Though I am a shareholder, I have no access to the enterprise. In late July, I was going to take part in a shareholders’ general meeting, at which a new director and members of the factory board were elected. However, I was not permitted to attend. They told me that according to a court ruling (which I had no idea about), I was deprived of the right to vote. This is inadmissible, so I have challenged this decision at court”, Birladean said.
Avicola-Nord was put up for an auction in 1999. Then, Gheorghe Birleadean Sr., the junior’s father who had been acquainted for many years with Energoresurse Director Nicolae Stadniciuc, obtained 71.6% of Avicola-Nord shares. The factory was privatized to the name of the Director on condition that 50% shares shall be subsequently given to Birladean the junior. His father paid the required sum for this.
Currently, Avicola-Nord is one of the largest poultry enterprises in Moldova, breeding up to 120 thousand chicken at a time, and running efficient cooperation with many trade centers in Chisinau and elsewhere in Moldova, selling its produce successfully.
