MOLDOVA UNITA URGING AUTHORITIES TO WORK OUT FOREIGN POLICY CONCEPT
Chisinau. The Moldova Unita Party is demanding from the Communist authorities to accelerate the drafting of the republic’s foreign policy concept through attracting a wide circle of experts, representatives of the civil society and political parties to this work.
At the news conference held in Infotag today, Party Chairwoman Anna Tcaci read out a statement saying that the country’s foreign policy elaboration has become the prerogative of a narrow circle of personalities. The policy drafting is done secretly, proceeding from the ruling party’s interests, without an account of the opinions of the civil society or opposition political forces.
The statement said also that such a policy will have a negative impact on Moldova’s future, on its interests at the international arena, and on its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The party leader said the absence of thoroughly-thought goals in the external policy, along with the absence of Council of Europe’s clear position on the future of Moldova as a CE member, are also one of the reasons why the Transnistria conflict would not be resolved for so long.
Anna Tcaci called upon all political parties and the civil society to consolidate public efforts for the sake of working out a consistent foreign policy that would meet the nation’s interests and could guarantee other countries’ respectful attitude to Moldova.
