COUNCIL OF EUROPE TO PROVIDE MOLDOVA WITH EQUIPMENT AND MEDICAL SUPPLIES FOR THE PENITENTIARY SYSTEM

Deputy Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Bjørn Berge, will visit on April 8-9 to discuss with its leadership issues related to improving the quality of medical services for detainees, gender equality, and preventing violence against women.

As reported the Council of Europe Office in Chisinau reported to INFOTAG, Bjørn Berge will meet, among others, with Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu, Minister of Justice Veronica Mikhailov-Moraru, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Cuc, and Chairperson of the Broadcasting Coordinating Council Liliana Vitu.

The Deputy Secretary General of the Council of Europe will deliver a public lecture at the State University and exchange views with students on gender equality and the impact of the Istanbul Convention (Council of Europe Convention on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence), to which the Republic of Moldova acceded in 2022.
