SOCIALIST ADVISOR OUTRAGED BY BEING DENIED ENTRY TO ROMANIA
The leader of the Balți territorial organization of the Socialist Party, Maxim Morosan, expressed outrage that on April 9 he was denied entry to Romania. He considers the reason for the refusal “fabricated,” stating that he will challenge the ban in court.

At a press conference on Thursday at the INFOTAG agency, he said that he first traveled to Romania as the chairman of the Balți Municipal Council's commission for twinning and investment attraction.

“In recent months, the Municipal Council has adopted many initiatives and projects related to Romanian cities. I was heading to the country to study urban solutions. But at the Sculeni customs, Romanian border guards detained me and, after an hour and a half, announced that I pose a 'threat to Romania's national security.' This is a political order from certain forces. On the same day, a group of advisors from “Our Party” was in one of the Romanian cities. I don't think this is a coincidence,” Morosan said.

He sees in the actions of the Romanian authorities a “counterbalance to his position of promoting Moldovan statehood, the Moldovan language and identity, culture, and traditions, as an ancient state.”

“I am not against the Romanian people and friendship with them; we are neighbors. But I am for the Moldovan people. I want our children to learn the history of Moldova, not the history of Romania. Perhaps someone is not happy with my attitude not only to history but also to honoring Victory Day. But I have considered and still consider May 9 as a bright holiday. In Balti, this date will be especially celebrated this year, the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the city from the fascists. I will attach the St. George ribbon as a symbol of victory,” promised Morosan.

He stated that he has never had any criminal cases, neither in Russia, where he lived for 20 years, nor in Moldova.

“I have administrative protocols for wearing the St. George ribbon from the Balti police, but I will not change my attitude toward this symbol or Victory Day,” said Morosan, who is “intending to defend his honor and dignity” by challenging the ban on entering Romania in court.
