REPRESENTATIVES OF A NUMBER OF VETERANS
Representatives of a number of organizations of veterans of the conflict on the Dniester River have accused the Moldovan government and parliament of total disregard of their rights to a decent life and medical care.

Thus, veteran Nicolae Girbu said at a press conference at the INFOTAG agency on Wednesday that back in July, veterans put forward a package of proposals on support measures for this category of the population, expecting them to be considered and included in a legislative initiative offering real guarantees to their family members as well, but in vain.

"We had to protest recently in front of the Parliament when the budget for 2024 was being adopted. Under the pressure of this action, the veterans were added 250 lei to the current allowance of 1,000 lei with the beginning of payment from January 1, 2024," he informed, stressing that this is "a paltry sum that does not even cover inflation."

The chairman of the "Movement of Transnistrian Refugees", Anatolie Bizgu, also noted that the authorities say that there is no money in the budget for veterans, but they find it, for example, for officials, setting for ministers "unthinkable salaries of tens and hundreds of thousands of lei."

"We do not need one-off payments, but benefits adequate to the current conditions. This concerns, first of all, the disabled combatants. Today they live in poverty, and there is not enough money for food or medicine," Bizgu believes.
