“WOMEN AND FUTURE” DEMAND REINSTATEMENT OF PEDIATRIC SURGEON

Activists of the NGO “Women and Future” demand the reinstatement of the 69-year-old pediatric surgeon-urologist, Chisinau Valentin Ignatenco Children Hospital director, Nicolae Starciuc.

The NGO Head Natalia Gavriliuc believes that dismissing of a person with such a wealth of knowledge and practical experience is an irreplaceable loss for the national health.

“He was fired according to the Moldovan Government decision, which restricts stay at senior post of a person over 65 years old. But Starciuc has an indefinite labor contract. Besides, he was dismissed during his vacation, which is a serious violation of labor legislation”, said Gavriliuc.

According to her, “nowadays, when Moldovan pediatric medicine is in a very difficult situation, we should not refuse the professionalism of such doctors as Starciuc”.

Her opinion was shared by Chisinau kindergartener Irina Telnova, former employee of the Valentin Ignatenco Hospital, who said that “when parents come to thank for saving their children’s life, the Ignatenco Hospital’s employees do not take bribes. This is, maybe, the single medical institution, where corruption is excluded. People see this and again start to believe that true doctors still exist.”

“Women and Future” activists announced that they will send a letter to the Republic of Moldova President Nicolae Timofti and Prime Minister Iurie Leanca with a demand to solve the situation with questionable dismissal of the honored medic, pediatric surgeon-urologist Nicolae Starciuc.
