DA CIVIL PLATFORM ORGANIZING SILENCE MARCH IN CHISINAU CENTER

25 march, 2015
DA CIVIL PLATFORM ORGANIZING SILENCE MARCH IN CHISINAU CENTER The Civil Platform “For Dignity and Truth” [“Demnitate si Adevar”, DA] has called upon Moldova citizens to come and take part in a Silence March in Chisinau center on the Palm Sunday of April 5.

DA representatives organized a news conference at Infotag today and addressed to compatriots who really care about what is happening in the republic to come for the Silence March and express public protest to the current Moldovan authorities.

Ex-MP Angela Arama said the March will be a tribute of memory to the tragic events of April 7, 2009 and, simultaneously, a protest against what the current authorities are doing nowadays.

The news conference participants reminded that in April 2009 the Moldovan youth expressed their protest against then-ruling Communist Party. The young people helped to come into power those political parties, “which have now betrayed the interests of the youth and which have formed an alliance with the Communist Party i.e. the organization against which the youth came out into streets in 2009”.

The Silence March organizers stated that the present-day authorities “have buried the youth’s hopes for changes in their native country”.

Former Deputy Prime Minister Valentin Dolganiuc, a member of Moldova’s first Parliament, stated: “If we don't make changes in the country, somebody will do this instead of us. We must give tribute to the memory of those who suffered in those April days in police commissariats, where judges were summoned to write accusing verdicts against young people who just wanted changes in their native country”.

In his words, nothing has changed in Moldova since then: the judges who used to announce criminal verdicts are now being decorated with orders and medals, and they are holding high posts in the state and its judiciary system.
