CHAIRMAN OF DEMNITATE POLICE UNION OUTRAGED BY ATTACK ON POLICE OFFICERS

21 january, 2016
CHAIRMAN OF DEMNITATE POLICE UNION OUTRAGED BY ATTACK ON POLICE OFFICERS Chairman of the Demnitate Trade Union of Policemen Mihai Lascu is indignant about the attacks on the law enforcement officers who had been carrying their service for the Moldovan Parliament protection.

On Thursday at the press conference in the Infotag Agency, he expressed serious concern that the people who had been ensuring the safety of public buildings, the MPs and employees of parliament were subjected to unmotivated attacks by the protesters.

"As a citizen of the Republic of Moldova, I do not question the right of each of us to express our views. However, it should take place in a peaceful and civilized manner. The actions we saw yesterday casts doubt on the legality of what was happening. It cannot be called otherwise than a crime against a person”, considers the leader of the trade unions.

He said that 27 injured law enforcement officers were brought to a military hospital during that night.

“Fortunately, there are no seriously wounded people among them. All the injuries are hematomas after blows to the arms and legs and head contusions. All the police officers are receiving therapeutic and medicinal assistance”, said Lascu.

During the riots by the parliament, 22 uniform jackets were torn, 45 rubber batons were snatched and 12 radio sets were stolen.

"I believe the aggressors went to such provocations, being well-prepared. How else can one explain that some of them, as the policemen saw, had metal rods, and they sprayed gas in the law enforcement officers’ faces?”, expressed his bewilderment Lascu noting that new Interior Minister Alexander Jizdan should carefully investigate those acts of violence.

“Jizdan is a man who has given many years to the police service. He knows very well how to deal with offences, moreover, in its organized form. I am confident that he will achieve a legitimate punish for those guilty of the acts of violence against the police”, said the head of the Demnitate Union.
