CAMPAIGN OF INFORMING POPULATION ABOUT THE NEED FOR SEPARATE GARBAGE COLLECTION BEGINS IN MOLDOVA

A campaign of population informing about the need for separate garbage collection has started in Moldova, its organizers from the Reciclare civil society organization announced at a news conference in Infotag on Thursday.

According to them, the campaign runs under the slogan of EuSortez and is supported by both international partners in the person of the United Nations Development Program, local waste collection and recycling operators, and the Ministry of the Environment.

The 'face' of the information campaign, TV presenter Lilia Ojovan, believes that there is an acute problem of intensive pollution of soil and water in Moldova.

"The reason is that the population as a whole does not understand the extreme seriousness of the fact that it is garbage that is to blame. It must be removed in time and correctly, and also taught to children from their first steps in life. It should be understood that this is necessary for all of us. In this sense, European countries show an undoubted and encouraging example. Traveling abroad, we see it with our own eyes. We need to solve the garbage problem together," she said.

In her understanding, clean water and unpolluted soil is also the health of fellow citizens, and all this creates a favorable ecological environment in the country.

According to the campaign initiators, bags of two colors - green and black - will be placed on garbage collection platforms and retail chains. In the first, citizens are recommended to put waste glass, paper, plastic, and in the second - biodegradable waste.

A special video will appear on social networks, in which the main goal of the information campaign will be promoted - to make Moldova cleaner and pass this understanding on to future generations.

According to the forecasts of civil society activists, they plan to be collecting up to 1,000 tons of separated garbage per month.
